When you're editing menus in Shopify, there's a limit to how many changes you can make before saving. Each action, like adding, editing, deleting, or moving a menu item, counts as one change. After 200 changes, you won't be able to make any more updates until you save your progress. Clicking the Save button resets this counter.

Bottom Line

That’s basically how to edit a menu on Shopify. Easy, isn’t it! Now you can use this to improve your store's navigation and user experience.

FAQs

Yes, you can easily update a menu item's name without affecting its URL. Go to Navigation in your Shopify admin, select the menu, and click the item you want to change. Edit the "Name" field while leaving the "Link" field as it is.

How do I reorder menu items in Shopify?

To rearrange menu items, go to Navigation in your Shopify admin. Choose the menu you want to change and simply drag and drop the items into your desired order. Remember to save your changes!

Can I add dropdown menus to my Shopify navigation?

Yes, you can create dropdown menus using sub-items. In the Navigation editor, drag a menu item slightly to the right under another item to create a dropdown. This helps organize your navigation by grouping similar items under a main category.

Can I temporarily hide a menu item without deleting it?

While there's no direct "hide" feature, you can work around this. Create a separate, unpublished menu to store items you want to hide temporarily. Or, remove the item from your main menu but keep a record of its settings so you can easily add it back later.

How often should I update my store's menu?

It's important to keep your menu current for a good user experience. Aim to review your menu items at least monthly. If you frequently add new products or collections, update it more often. Also, revisit your menu structure whenever you make major changes to your store or want to feature seasonal items.
